We are pretty much aware of Item dance cult booming in India that is why, with few exceptions, every upcoming movie contains an item dance. Leading Bollywood actresses and Directors are trying to adept this cult. We are familiar with item songs like “Tu cheez badi hai mast-mast” and “Mai toh tanduri murgi hoon yaar gatka le saiyaan alcohol se” and some other cheap sounding 'Yo Yo Honey Singh' Songs. These songs always make Superhit label thus indicate we are promoting this cult. These Songs portrays women as a commodity and promote alcoholism which is the ultimate cause of violence. The impact of these movies and item songs is so prevalent in Day to Day life as we see loafers calling a girl as a “Maal” which girls find abusive and, of course, it is abusive. They are a human, not a maal which literally means an item.
Biologically, women are superior to men. They give birth to young ones, nourish them and raise them as a better human. Not only in humans but these characters are present in female animals as well. I can't give the entire zoological analogy right away.
Politically, women are always used as a tool for winning elections. If you remember the 2014 general election of India, you will find Rahul Gandhi as the biggest advocate of women empowerment. He perhaps inspired with a Tea ad urging women to recognize their voting power as “49% or Half of the Indian population are women”. But after the election, all his stamina evaporated and as a result, Rahul Gandhi found sleeping inside the parliament. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also used women as a political tool but he is still in action. The regional political parties also tempt women when there is an election. At that time, women should ask them in Robert Vadra's line: Are you Serious??
Lastly, we can only hope and expect from our society and politician to respect women and not reduce them just as an "Item".
